NSUFITSU — STUDENT LIFE
Rated as one of America's top small cities, Tahlequah has a comfortable, small-town, atmosphere and is home to the historic capital of the Cherokee Nation of Oklahoma.
Located at the foot of the Ozark Mountains, Tahlequah is surrounded by the beauty of Oklahoma's Green Country. The Illinois River, a popular spot for canoeing, tubing, hiking, bicycling, fishing, camping, and enjoying wildlife is nearby. Lake Tenkiller, which offers fishing, boating, and skiing, is another student destination.
The more than 80 student organizations, Jazz Lab, NSU Theatre, and Northeastern Activities Board provide plenty of opportunities to participate in NSU's active campus. And on fall weekends, the place to be is at Doc Wadley Stadium for tailgating and RiverHawk football watching. In the winter, the cheering moves inside the Jack Dobbins Fieldhouse where the men's and women's basketball teams play.
An hour's drive away is Tulsa, Northeast Oklahoma's major city, offering arts, entertainment, dining, and shopping.
